The Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) series “Sanitation, Water and Solid Waste for Development” is an open-access, full-fledged eLearning programme of Eawag (Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology) and EPFL (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology). It consists of four courses, including: (1) Municipal Solid Waste Management in Developing Countries, (2) Planning and Design of Sanitation Systems and Technologies, (3) Introduction to Household Water Treatment and Safe Storage and (4) Introduction to Faecal Sludge Management. So far it has reached a global audience of almost 200'000 learners.
